Angela Banks lives and works in Johannesburg. She received her BA (Fine Arts) in 1999 at the University of Pretoria and went onto receive her Masters (Fine Arts) in 2003.
Banks has since been on 2 residencies abroad, namely in France and in China, exhibiting in both countries. She has taken part in various group shows and has had a number of solo shows. Angela paints in both oils and watercolour and draws in charcoal and pencil too.
She is interested in both the portrait and depicting the role and relationship between human and animal in the landscape, and sometimes combines them to form a hybrid figure. Banks' works are full of narrative and have a whimsical like nature to them which allows for a variety of interpretations.
