Named one of South Africa's 20 most "influential Afrikaners" by De Kat magazine alongside Anton Rupert, F.W.de Klerk and Cheryl Carolus in 1996, she was also the first South African woman selected to judge at the prestigious Cannes Advertising Awards Festival.
When their agency was acquired internationally by OMNICOM, she used the financial opportunity to escape with her husband and two dogs to a small farm on the edge of the Karoo where she has returned to her first love – painting.
