Carmen Clews: "I am no longer aware of me, of having a body or shape as I sink into an abyss of bliss. I am only aware of a gentle guiding voice bringing my attention to different elements of a form that I inhabit – and my breath, I notice my breath…
The taming of my ego occurs with regular practise of yoga. All anxieties, concerns and fears are quietened and seem to even disappear. My stiff joints and tender body parts melt away and through giving my continuously thinking mind a break, I am strengthened, purified and Magic happens. I become happier, wiser and more humble. I am reenergised, compassionate and calmer. Synchronicities are everywhere.
The process of creating ‘Transcending Ego’ bronzes started by moulding soft, pliable clay into a form and guiding it through a focused process until it became a strengthened precious metal. The act of using gentle pliable manipulation to transform a vulnerable form into a stronger, more durable one reflects my yoga practice. Regular practise tames my ego and sometimes, even if briefly, ego is transcended."
