My body of work is informed by the modest everyday life lived by black communities, despite being surrounded by political turmoil and injustices. I am to highlight the simplicity and enjoyment of life lived by the so called “lost generation” even with the challenges that they continuously face. This is what, “My resistance art”, if you choose, portray and illustrates this way of life by use of Sculpture and Painting.
Using sculpture and painting, my work is a documentation of social dialogue of immediate happenings in otherwise unrecorded everyday occurrences in townships, informal settlements and street landscapes of East London, and capturing their vibrant, seeming care free interactions within their environment.
The interpretation of a vibrant, free life punctuated by a curiosity of un-orchestrated street life resulted in my choice of pallet.
